Financial Matters & Support

All of our full time programmes are free for students under 19.  We also provide textbooks and some equipment to be used during your time at the Centre.

Some courses require students to purchase specialist equipment and materials, don't be put off applying though these will be available to you from the Centre at a subsidised rate.

All students are asked to pay a deposit of £35 at enrolment, £20 of which is refundable at the end of your course provided all Centre text books and equipment have been returned. 

Bursary information

Post 16 Bursaries

There are two types of bursaries:

The first for £1200 per annum is payable to any student who is leaving care, in receipt of income support or in receipt of Disabled Living Allowance and the Employment Support Allowance.

The second is discretionary and is based on an assessment of family income. The size of this payment will depend on the fund the government make available to the Centre.

To receive either bursary proof of entitlement will be required.

Payment of the discretionary bursary will be based on the following criteria:

1. You have presented the Contract, which has been signed by you, your parent/guardian and the Bursary Administrator.

2. You have 100% attendance to classes

3. You have 100% punctuality to classes

Hardship Fund

The Centre has a fund set aside for students who need help with additional learning costs such as equipment, uniforms, trip funds etc.  To be eligible you must prove that you live in a low income household or receive an income-based benefit.  Applications can be found in Student Services.

Care to Learn

If you have a child or children and want to study you can get childcare support from Care to Learn of up to £175 a week.  Care to Learn will pay for child care deposits, registration fees, travel costs to and from your childcare provider.  The child care provider will receive payment direct from Care to Learn.

Somerset Award

The Tottenham Grammar School Foundation is a Charity which promote the education of young people under the age of 25 years and who are in need of financial assistance.

The Somerset Award is only available to students following a full time vocational course (note: Awards will not be approved to GCSE, AS or A level courses) an who are residents in the London Borough of Haringey and who have attended secondary school in the borough.
